2016 Efficacy evaluation of fungicides against rusts and other leaf diseases in spring wheat - Advisory fungicide trial SUMMARY The trial was sown on 13 th of May in Jokioinen in Finland. It rained 18 mm just one day after the sowing. The cultivar was Marble and the seed was untreated. At the end of May, wheat suffered from heavy infestation of bird cherry aphids. The aphids were spayed but they still caused BYDV, which caused that the plots were not dense. Also disease assessments were difficult because of BYDV. The weather in May was on average 3 degrees warmer than the 1981 2010 long term average. The temperature sum after May was then 100 degrees above normal. Then in June, July and August temperatures were normal to the long term average and there were no long warm periods. The precipitation during the summer was quite normal to the long term average and it rained about 230 mm from sowing to harvest. Between June and August it was raining small amounts on average every second day so humidity was also high during whole summer. The applications were made on 8 th of July at beginning of heading. At application timing the tan spot disease severity was 0.5 % and no other diseases were present. There was no phytotoxicity caused by any of the treatments. First disease assessment was made two weeks after the application. The severity of tan spot was 5 % in the untreated control. All treatments significantly decreased the severity to 0.75 2 %. Elatus Era, Proline and Acanto+Proline Expert had the best efficacy, but the difference to other treatments was still small. The next assessment was made on flag leaf and second leaf layer four weeks after application at growth stage BBCH 75. On the untreated flag leaf tan spot covered 6.75 % and on the second leaf 25 % of the leaf area. Elatus Era had the highest efficacy, 92 and 93 % on those two leaf layers. The efficacy of other treatments was 72 89 % on the flag leaf and 78 88 on the second leaf. The severity with all treatments was still low, 1 2 % on the flag leaf and 2 6 % on the second leaf. Aphids caused more decrease in green leaf area as about 10 % in each plot was damaged by BYDV and leaves started already to turn yellow. The disease severity started to increase clearly in August. The severity in the flag leaf 38 days after application in control was already 75 %. Elatus Plus+Zenit and Elatus Era had still 87 88 % efficacy. With other treatments the efficacy was significantly lower, 55 67 %. The plots treated with Elatus Era lasted longest time green. The trial was harvested on 16 th of September and harvesting moisture was 20 %. The untreated yield was 3732 kg/ha. Yield was low due to BYDV and environmental factors and the yield level was not normal to the area. All treatments increased the yield 3 10 %, but the yield increase was not significant in this trial. The best yield was with Basso+Mirador, 4087 kg/ha, + 10 %. With all other treatments the yield was about 3900 4000 kg/ha. Hectoliter weight was 81.6 kg in the control and it was within +- 1 % with all the treatments. Thousand grain weight was 35.7 g in the control and all treatments increased it by 2 9 %. Basso+Mirador and ElatusEra treatments significantly increased TGW by 8 9 % to 38.5 g. With other treatments TGW was between 36.5 and 37.5 grams.

2016 Efficacy evaluation of fungicides against rusts and other leaf diseases in spring wheat - Advisory fungicide trial TIIVISTELMÄ Markkinoilla olevia viljojen sienitautien torjunta-aineita testattiin kenttäkokeessa Jokioisissa. Testatut valmisteet olivat Elatus Era 1.0 l/ha sekä tankkiseoksina Amistar Xtra + Folicur Xpert 0.4+0.4 l/ha, Tilt 250 EC + Mirador 0.5+0.4 l/ha, Delaro + Folicur Xpert 0.4+0.4 l/ha, Acanto + Proline Xpert 0.4+0.4 l/ha, Basso + Mirador 0.8+0.4 l/ha, Amistar + Armure 0.4+0.4 l/ha ja ElatusPlus + Zenit 575 EC 0.75+0.5 l/ha. Verrannekäsittelyt olivat Proline 0.6 l/ha sekä tankkiseos Comet Pro + Juventus 0.5+0.5 l/ha. Kokeeseen sisältyi myös käsittelemätön koejäsen. Koe suunniteltiin yhteistyössä kasvinsuojeluaineyritysten kanssa ja toteutettiin GEP-laatujärjestelmän mukaisesti. Koepaikka oli Jokioinen ja koe kylvettiin toukokuun 13 päivä. Kylvön jälkeen satoi 18 mm vettä ja vehnä orastui hyvin. Lajike oli Marble ja siementä ei ollut peitattu. Vehnäkasvusto oli tasainen, mutta melko harva. Tuomikirvojen määrä kasvustossa oli suuri toukokuun lopussa ja torjunnasta huolimatta ne aiheuttivat viroosia. Viroosia oli noin 10 % ruuduista ja se alensi satoa. Viroosi vaikeutti myös tautihavaintojen tekemistä. Sääolosuhteet kasvukaudella olivat pääosin pitkäaikaisen 1981 2010 keskiarvon mukaiset. Ainoastaan toukokuussa lämpötila oli korkeampi ja lämpösumma oli noin 100 astetta keskiarvoa edellä. Loppukesän aikana lämpösumma ei enää kasvanut. Sadesumma oli myös keskimääräinen ja kylvön ja puinnin välillä satoi noin 230 mm. Sade tuli enimmäkseen pieninä määrinä ja vettä satoi keskimäärin joka toinen päivä. Tämä vaikutti korkean tautipaineen syntymiseen. Fungisidikäsittely tehtiin tähkälletulovaiheessa BBCH 51 55 heinäkuun 8. päivä. Vehnän pistelaikkua oli tuolloin vain 0.5 %, mutta tautimäärä lähti sen jälkeen nopeasti kasvuun. Käsittelyt onnistuivat hyvissä sääoloissa ja ne eivät aiheuttaneet fytotoksisuutta. Ensimmäinen tautihavainto tehtiin kaksi viikkoa ruiskutuksesta. Pistelaikku oli ainoa esiintyvä tauti ja käsittelemättömissä ruuduissa sitä oli 5 % lehtialasta. Kaikilla käsittelyillä oli tässä vaiheessa 60 85 % teho ja Elatus Era, Proline ja Acanto+Proline Expert erosivat hieman parempina muista käsittelyistä. Toinen tautihavainto tehtiin neljä viikkoa ruiskutuksesta lippulehdeltä ja toiseksi ylimmältä lehdeltä. Ilman käsittelyä lippulehdillä tautimäärä oli 6.75 % ja toisella lehdellä 25 %. Kaikkien käsittelyjen teho pistelaikkua vastaan oli 72 92 %. Elatus Eran teho oli molemmilla lehdillä yli 90 %. Muillakin käsittelyillä teho oli yhä hyvä ja pistelaikun määrä oli vielä matala. Elokuussa tautipaine alkoi kasvaa selvästi ja kymmenen päivää toisen havainnon jälkeen käsittelemättömillä lippulehdillä tautimäärä oli jo75 %. Elatus Era ja ElatusPlus + Zenit käsittelyillä oli paras teho. Muiden käsittelyjen teho oli matalampi, mutta ne erosivat selvästi käsittelemättömästä. Koe puitiin syyskuun puolivälissä ja lakoutumista ei ollut. Satotaso jäi matalaksi harvan kasvuston ja kirvojen aiheuttaman viroosin takia. Käsittelemätön sato oli 3732 kg/ha ja käsittelyt lisäsivät satoa 3 10 %. Basso + Mirador käsittelyllä oli paras sato, 4087 kg/ha ja muilla käsittelyillä sato oli 3900 4000 kg/ha. Hehtolitrapainoon käsittelyillä ei ollut vaikutusta, mutta käsittelyt lisäsivät tuhannen jyvän painoa 2 9 %. Käsittelyt lisäsivät jonkin verran vihreän lehtialan kestoa ja siten edistivät siementen täyttymistä.
