HQS-ratkaisun hyötypotentiaalin kiteytys Olli Hakanen (5) Kuva 1.: Itäinen ja läntinen ratahaara yhdistetään Käpylän kalliotunnelissa ja Ilmalan ratapihan kannen alla alittavalla yhdysradalla. Junien läpivirtausasema on kartan Finnopolis-asema. Kuva 2: Helsingin rautatieasema on neliraiteisen raitiojunaradan asema.
HQS-ratkaisun hyötypotentiaalin kiteytys Olli Hakanen (5) Kuva 3: Itäinen ja läntinen ratahaara yhdistyvät läpivirtausasemalla (A). Kuvaan on piirretty Rautatieaseman raitiojunaverkon keskustaan johtava neliraiteinen raitiorata (C) sekä pohjoisen kaksiraiteisen raitiorataverkon Lentoaseman (G) ja Oulunkylän (F) haarat. Hämeenlinnan ratahaara puuttuu. Kohtaan D palautetaan paikalla aikoinaan sijainnut pohjavesijärvi. Pasilan entisen kaatopaikan pilaantuneet maat puhdistetaan ja/tai korvataan Käpylän tunneliradan kalliomurskeella. Kuvassa on Tallinnan tunneliradan asemavaraus (B). Helsingistä puuttuvien itä-länsi-suuntaisten viheryhteyksien rakentaminen tulee mahdolliseksi.
HQS-ratkaisun hyötypotentiaalin kiteytys Olli Hakanen (5) Kuva 5: Lentoaseman raitiojunat liikennöivät suoraan tulevan matkustaja-aulan oven eteen. Lentoaseman raitiojunat kulkevat siltaradalla. Vaihto raitiojunaan Finnopolis-asemalla ja Tikkurilan asemalla tuottaa sekä Turusta että Tampereelta tunnin raideyhteyden Lentoasemalle. Kuva 6: Raitiojunaverkon matka-aikoja Helsingin rautatieasemalle. Keskustan ratapenkan keskimmäiset, pysähtymättä keskustaan liikennöitävät, raiteet tekevät matkanteosta huippunopeaa.
HQS-ratkaisun hyötypotentiaalin kiteytys Olli Hakanen (5) Kuvat 7 ja 8: Matkaketjuverkon sujuvuuden ratkaisee vuorovälien tiiveys ja vaihtojen nopeus. Finnopolis-asemalla vaihto junasta raitiojunaan sujuu kahdessa minuutissa. Rautatieasemalla raitiojunat vievät matkustajat alkuperäiselle laituripihalle lasikaton alle metron lippuaulan tasolle. Finnopolis-aseman junaradoilla on 3 ja 2,5 minuutin ja raitiojunaradoilla 1 ja 2 minuutin vuorovälit.
Helsinki Stream City -raportin liite 2 Helsinki Stream City 10 minutes to new urbanism Illustrated short documentary in four episodes, estimated total duration 10 minutes Introduction to the project and synopsis RE11, , Production update on Tuesday the 20 of November at Urbanium/Porthania, Yliopistokatu 3 Fundamental Assumptions (introduction to the project) on page 2 Taking Helsinki Region to the next level, mission, values, attitude, principles, goal Introduction sets out the motivation behind Helsinki Stream City project and also behind the production of this film. It is also a promise of the underlying ethics of the project. 1. New Origin (assumption) on page 3 Earth & climate, blue web, green web, habitation, urban expansion, a new paradigm of urbanism The origin of Helsinki, capital city of Finland, is illustrated from A to Z in a nutshell. We then introduce a new paradigm of urban development circular economy of land use and the future it makes possible. The number one priority is to take care of the well-being of nature. The new order of priorities will translate into the well-being of the city and its citizens. Reusing land freed from current inefficient traffic system secures the growth of the Helsinki Region without occupying any new areas of natural environment. 2. New Mobility (key factor) on page 4 Systemic freedom of mobility is the key for efficient and sustainable land use in the region New methods, means and system of mobility are introduced that are based on redeveloping solutions created in the earlier Helsinki Quick Step project. New solutions are introduced that will have a radically positive impact. The benefits for individuals and the public good are presented from global, national, regional and local perspectives. 3. New Architecture (key utiliser) on page 5 New architecture to be built on land freed for reuse thanks to new mobility New features of urban environment and architecture become possible when the urban space is no longer dominated by the danger, noise and pollution created by the current traffic system. Viewers are prepared for the world of Helsinki Stream City presented in the last episode. 4. New Urbanism (beneficiary) on page 6 Fictive story about the future Helsinki Stream City, modelled and simulated in a game environment A child is celebrating her first birthday in the Green Village borough of Helsinki Stream City. It happens to be also the 20 th anniversary of Helsinki Smart Tram-Train Platooning System and the Helsinki National Urban Park. We show how easy, quick and comfortable it is for quests to come to the birthday party. We show for example how the girl s grandmother, who is 90, and the girl s cousin, 7, both use the trip chain independently thanks to the holistic mobility service provided by the city. Quests coming to the party have already their masquerade costumes on. Some of them experience the Tram-Train and the National Urban Park Anniversary celebrations on their way. Viewers have opportunity to experience new urbanism, a symbiosis between human-made and natural environment. Visualization and soundscape Mixed styles - graphic images, live close-ups and story telling in 3d-environment - will be used. All episodes begin with the final image of the last episode. We use sounds of nature and of organic instruments, historical sounds and new urban sounds created by indivuals as the basis for the soundscape. All music will be original. Narrators will be used whenever necessary to convey the narrative clearly. 1/6
Helsinki Stream City -raportin liite 2 Helsinki Stream City 10 minutes to new urbanism An illustrated short documentary in four episodes Introduction of the project, RE11, Fundamental Assumptions (Introduction to the project and film) Taking Helsinki Region to the next level, mission, values, attitude, principles, goals Taking Helsinki to the next level During a recent visit to Helsinki I was struck by how many aspects of that city are already right: walkable streets, a well-integrated system of trams and buses, convenient and well-dispersed bike share, and a general acknowledgement that cities are for people, not cars. The result is that Helsinki has a fair portion of nature nearby and accessible for its citizens. But even more striking was the desire to not just rest on what has been accomplished heretofore, but to take the city to the next level, through transportation as a service, inter-regional transport link (Helsinki Quick Step), and restoration of nature while also increasing density. Author of Terra Nova: The New World After Oil, Cars and Suburbs (2013) and Mannahatta: A Natural History of New York (2009) Mission Symbiosis between human-made and the natural environment Values All time is lifetime Nature first Attitude Love for potential Passion for results Principles 1. Urban nature is the new dominion of all urban planning, service design and architecture. 2. Systemic freedom of mobility is the new logic of all planning and design. 3. Respect for the existing environment is wise: use and reuse existing infrastructure whenever possible. 4. Creation of novel solutions for new problems and challenges is crucial. Goal To secure sustainable growth of Helsinki Region without occupying new areas of natural environment Visual style The episode will basically consist of a series of illustrations expressing and symbolizing the themes Soundscape Sounds of nature, urban sounds, music played on organic instruments and narrators (=basic soundscape) Teaser anticipating and creating the setting for Episode Five Parts of Episode Five will be used also for illustrating Episode One Episode ends with a collage of the names and faces of the production team and supporters logos 2/6

Helsinki Stream City -raportin liite 2 Helsinki Stream City ten minutes to new urbanism An illustrated Short Documentary in Four Episodes, 4/4 Synopsis RE11, New Urbanism 2,5 minutes Fictive story about urban experiences in Helsinki Stream City Birthday in Helsinki Stream City A child is celebrating her first birthday in the Green Village borough of Helsinki Stream City. It also happens to be the 20 th anniversary of Helsinki Smart Tram-Train Platooning System and the Helsinki National Urban Park. We show how easy, quick and comfortable it is for quests to come to the birthday party. We show how the girl s grandmother, who is 90, and the girl s cousin, 7, both use the trip chain independently thanks to the holistic mobility service provided by the city. The birthday programme includes participation in celebrations of the Tram-Train Anniversary at the Finnopolis station and the National Urban Park celebrations around Prospect Park Pond. Viewers have many opportunities to experience new urban culture, a symbiosis between human-made and natural environment climate change is now under control. A child on the street: demonstrating the safety of a walking speed zone in the new inner city The cousin coming on a regional train from Espoo on the new track from Turku: demonstrating a solution of independent mobility for children Grandmother, 90, coming to the party from Riihimäki: demonstrating how an AV takes her from the station to the party One quest rides a bicycle to the party from the city center using Helsinki High Ride, other guests are walking along pedestrian Helsinki High Line, etc. Celebrations of Helsinki Smart Tram-Train Platooning System and Helsinki Urban National Park: demonstrating how national and international quests arrive from different parts of the globe We will also showcase the features and concepts of new architecture which becomes possible when urban planning and design are no longer dominated by the danger, noise and pollution of the current traffic system. New urban space where streets also serve as the space of neigbourhood New residential architecture on the street level A hybrid structure green edge between new housing and the natural environment We want to demonstrate the potential of solving the trickiest global and local problems by rejecting the current system of urban mobility in which armchair-sized objects are transported in a limited space using a living-room sized vehicles. Electric cars and autonomous cars are not the solution for urban environments. Instead of an update of the current geometrically, economically and ecologically unsustainable system we need an entirely new intelligent architecture of mobility. Visual style A game-engine environment especially produced for the project will be used in the production of Episode Four. To highlight important spaces and features of architecture story telling in game-environment will some times be freezed and processed to graphic images and to let viewers enjoy glimpse of future atmosphere of Helsinki Stream City. Soundscape Basic soundscape. Soundscape will convey and highlight story telling and personalize characters. Soundscape will be accompanied by Jone Takamäki s improvizations with organic instruments.
