Current policies will lead to +3,6ºC and pledges to +2,8ºC warming The warming has exceeded 1.1ºC or 1.3ºC if the Arctic areas are taken into account. Economic losses have increased 50 fold since the 1950 s. The recent hurricanes have broken single event records and the trend continues. Besides economic losses migration, refugee problems and humanitarian crisis are matters of concern. Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, World Meteorological Organization (Zero Emission Summit, NY, Sept 21, 2017)
Roadmap Leading experts (Rockström et.al., IEA/IRENA) have illustrated that when limiting warming below +2ºC we have 700-800 GtCO 2 budget. With current emissions levels, around 50 GtCO 2 /y this budget will be used in about 14 16 years, i.e. around 2032. COP negotiation process Updated NDCs needed quickly. The role of non-state actors important. Johan Rockström et al. Science 2017;355:1269-1271
We need to transform De/recarbonising industry Changing taxes and financing almost everything New materials, active buildings Activating citizens New energy, storages Sustainable forestry and land use New fuels for transport New market mechanisms, smart grid ICT, IoT everywhere New agriculture, also C sinks J Keronen, Climate Leadership Council

The richest 10% is responsible for almost 50% of CO 2 emissions globally The average carbon footprint of the richest 10% is 11 times as high as that of the poorest half of the population, and 60 times as high as that of the poorest 10%. The average footprint of the richest 1% of people globally could be 175 times that of the poorest 10%.
Citizens have many options in reducing their carbon footprint Choose CO2-free electrity..reduce unnecessary energy use use energy efficient devices use energy when it is produced in a cleanest way use renewables revise food portfolio.. when possible choose low carbon product or service compensate other emissions..use public transportation when possible and when not, switch to low carbon vehicles J Keronen, Climate Leadership Council, Stormwarning Association Do 2-4 permanent changes / year in 10 period.

Hiiliajalanjäljen laskenta suoritettiin kansainvälisten standardien mukaisesti käyttämällä hyväksi GaBi 6.0 elinkaariarvioinnin mallinnusohjelmistoa. GaBi is a Life Cycle Assessment engine to support: - Design for Environment: developing products that meet environmental regulations - Eco-efficiency: reducing material, energy and resource use in the most cost-effective way - Eco-design: developing products with smaller environmental footprints such as fewer GHG emissions, reduced water consumption and waste - Efficient value chains: enhancing efficiency of value chains e.g. R&D, design, production, suppliers, distribution Keskimääräinen ajomatka 80 km/kierros.
Engagement of the whole civil society is also much needed. In Finland we have come up with a citizen's climate pledge, where all who sign up, like me, agree to decrease their own carbon footprint by half within a decade. In the end, it is up to us, the individuals to shape our own habits. President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö at the Leaders Event of the opening ceremony of the Paris Climate Change Conference on 30 November 2015 Offset esimerkki: Kentän hiilijalanjälki 50 tnco2eq. -> 18,5 125 USD/v Pelaajien ajaminen kentälle ja takaisin 200 tnco2eq. -> 74 500 USD/v Jos pelaajien ajaminen jaettaisiin esim. - 800 jäsenelle -> 0,1 0,6 USD/v per jäsen - 20.000 pelikierrokselle -> 0,004 0,025 USD per pelikierros
Ajatuksia jatkosta Kentät - Meri-Teijon projektin pohjalta SGKY sopii yhteisen mallin, jolla golf-kenttien CO2-jalanjälki lasketaan - Hankitaan malliin hyväksyntä myös kansainvälisiltä tahoilta - Tehdään/teetetään mallista kaupallisesti virtaviivaistettu työkalu hiilijalanjälkilaskentoihin ja CO2-vähennyssuunnitelmiin - Tehdään laskelmia ja suunnitelmia suomalaisille kentille (Cooke?) ja hankitaan myös kv. referenssejä (St Andrews) - Tehdään juttu kansainvälisiin golf-lehtiin Pelaajat - Kehitetään/sovitaan rahoitusmekanismi, jolla kaikki ensi vuonna pelattavien kierrostenautoilunpäästöt offsetataan (2,7 miljoonaa kierrosta 33.000 tn/co2 -> 0,01 0,02 USD per pelikierros tai 0,3-0,5 USD/v 145.000 pelaajalle ja koska offsetit kannattaa ylimitoittaa tulisi noin 0,5-1 e/v per pelaaja) - SGL voisi tällä kampanjalla myös liittyä UNFCCCn Climate Neutral Now hankkeeseen ensimmäisenä golfliittona, saada sekä kansainvälistä että kotimaista näkyvyyttä - Toivoisin myös, että kansalaisen ilmastolupaus olisi jollakin tavalla näkyvillä golfin yhteydessä Kilpailut - Järjestetään 2018 kansainväliset kilpailut hiilineutraalisti ja 2019 mahdollinen Eurooppa Tour Vierumäellä Sponsorit - Uusia mahdollisuuksia sekä kentille, että liitoille, ajoneuvot, polttoaineet, lainnoitteet, työkoneet, hiilen sidonta, ruokailu
