The p remise is that the desired change through collective development projects that aim to develop c ommon practices can happen when we have the right kind of group and support structures. T herefore, this research aims to address the following questions: 1) How do the participants in a c ollective development project behave during group work? And, what are the types of people p articipating? 2) What is a productive small group composition, where a productive group is a g roup which gets the work done, and has results to share? 3) Do support structures such as trust, commitment, control, communication and cooperation facilitate these projects? T his research was done as a qualitative study. Data was collected using observations and i nterviews from four different projects (between years ) of one case organization, which f acilitates collective development project. The research was done as action research. The researcher w as part of the facilitator's crew in these projects, and developed the process in other cases based on the results of the first case. Folk psychology was used as the analytical framework. T o identify the types of participants, the data was analyzed using a coding, that was developed a s a part of this research, based on the behavioral attributes found in the literature. Short t ranscripts from audio- and videotapes were used to analyze the groups, and short transcripts from t he interviews were used to describe support structures. Several ways, such as a colleague's o bservations, two questionnaires, and interviews in Australia, were used to validate the results of the research. A s a result, the participants of the projects can be clustered into different types: 1) Opinionated S peakers, 2) Empathetic Leaders, 3) Active Respondents, 4) Passive Respondents, and 5) Listeners. A productive group has at least one leader and one or more active respondent to support a balanced d iscussion. Support structures such as mentioned above (Q3) will facilitate the collective development project. A theoretical contribution of the study is the extension of the theories of types of people, group d ynamics and group formation, and make them more understandable and acceptable for people w ho do not have a background in psychology by using elements and aspects of folk psychology. In a ddition, this research extends these theories into collective development projects. Practical c ontributions for the real estate and construction sector are: 1) Behavioral attributes with e xplanations tool for clustering group members into types, 2) Recommendations for facilitators o n how to use different types of people to form groups, 3) Recommendations for facilitators to invite participants for a project, 4) Improved process of collective development projects. Oletus on, että h aluttu muutos yhteisten kehityshankkeiden, jotka kehittävät t apahtuu, kun ryhmä ja tukirakenteet valitaan oikein. Siksi tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on v astata seuraaviin kysymyksiin: 1) Kuinka yhteisten kehityshankkeiden osallistujat käyttäytyvät r yhmätöiden aikana? Mitkä ovat osallistujien tyypit?, 2) Millainen on tuottelias pienryhmä, kun t uottelias ryhmä on ryhmä joka saa aikaan yhteisesti jaettavia tuloksia, ja 3) Fasilitoivatko t ukirakenteet kuten luottamus, sitoutuminen, kontrollointi, kommunikointi ja yhteistyö näitä yhteisiä kehityshankkeita? T yö on tehty laadullisena tutkimuksena. Työn aineisto kerättiin yhden case organisaation, joka f asilitoi yhteishankkeita neljästä eri hankkeesta vuosina Tutkija oli osana tutkittavia hankkeita, ja kehitti muiden hankkeiden prosessia perustuen ensimmäisestä hankkeesta saatuihin tuloksiin. Kansanpsykologia valittiin työn analyyttiseksi raamiksi. T yyppien selvittämiseksi aineisto analysoitiin tässä työssä kehitetyllä erilaisiin kirjallisuudesta l öytyneisiin käyttäytymisattribuutteihin perustuvalla koodauksella. Ryhmien analysoimiseksi k äytettiin video- ja nauhoitusaineistosta lyhyitä pätkiä ilmiötä selittämään. Haastatteluista k oostettuja lyhyitä lainauksia käytettiin tukirakenteiden määrittämiseen. Useaa eri tapaa, kuten k ollegan tekemää havainnointia, kahta kyselyä, sekä haastatteluita Australiasta käytettiin tutkimustulosten validointiin. Tuloksena saatiin, että työpajojen osallistujat voidaan jakaa eri tyyppeihin: 1) Vahvat mielipiteet omaavat puhujat, 2) Empaattiset johtajat, 3) Aktiiviset osallistujat, 4) Passiiviset osallistujat, ja 5) K uuntelijat. Tuotteliaassa ryhmässä on vähintään yksi johtaja, ja yksi tai useampi aktiivinen o sallistuja, joka tukee tasapainoista keskustelua. Lisäksi, tukirakenteet kuten luottamus, sitoutuminen, kontrollointi, kommunikointi ja yhteistyö fasilitoivat yhteisiä kehityshankkeita, sekä tukevat tulosten jalkauttamisessa. T utkimuksen teoreettinen kontribuutio on laajentaa tyyppien ja tuotteliaiden ryhmien koostamisen teoriaa kansanpsykologiaa hyödyntäen koskemaan yhteisiä kehityshankkeita. Lisäksi, t arkoitus on tehdä näitä teorioita hyväksyttävämmäksi ei-psykologiataustaisille. Käytännön kontribuutiot kiinteistö- ja rakennusalalle ovat: 1) Käyttäytymisattribuutit selityksineen työkalu tyyppien ja työryhmien määrittämiseen, 2) Suositukset fasilitaattoreille ryhmien muodostamiseen, 3 ) Suositukset fasilitaattoreille osallistujien kokoamiseen, 4) Parannettu yhteisten kehityshankkeiden prosessi.
