Groupworks Tatu Koljonen, ESCEL RIAP, Iso seminaarisali Janne Aikio, Sensors and IoT, Schokley Jyrki Kiihamäki, Microsystems, Bardeen Marko Jurvansuu, Oulu specific topic, Seminaaritila 6
Groupwork on ECSEL RIAP proposals chaired by Tatu Koljonen Three topics ( to the Research and Innovation Action Plan of ECSEL) were indentified: Heterogenous data fusion and analysis, for brain related health Next generation wearable platforms, Use of contextual information together cryptographic methods to provide more secure user friendly, privacy preserving authentications and authorisation Attendees were asked to complete the proposal form by Friday 14 th February. 7
Groupwork Sensors and IoT chaired by Janne Aikio Miniature cost efficient gas sensors Application areas: Air quality in rooms / facilities Process gases Scuba diving What to sense (to be specified): Contaminants (specific) Microbes Concentration Physical measures (Temp., pressure) Requirements (to be quantified ): Small / miniature Cost efficient Mass manufactured Digital (at least reader) Reliability / self diagnostics Technologies to be developed Sensing Manufacturing Design Business: Existing needs and opportunities Possible services with IoT Who provides? & develops IoT Aspects Services & Data sharing Security Emergency (hazardous gases) User expectations 8
Groupwork in Oulu chaired by Marko Jurvansuu Home automation Chosen topic: Home automation / Professa Heating and ventilation systems are competing / not discussing Cooling is major problem in world (car, house cooling work together), Google Nest, learning thermostat, cooling response fast Retrofit LED lights with sensors! Old homes may need more control and monitoring than new ones With LEDs power consumption not a problem -> comfort, automation. Automatic light on/off at homes Smart systems may make people feel uncertain of control, but learning automation and then relying to it Security aspects, hackers attack house systems, locks Handling fire, earhquake, water damages Smartness could be provided first to not critical systems like ventilation (?) and lighting 9
Conclusion The sixteenth Eemeli will be organised on 13th August 2014. 10
