Mitä arviointi on? Process of observing a sample of a student s behavior and drawing inferences about the student s knowledge and abilities (Ormrod, 2006). Seven principles of good feedback practice (Nicol & Macfarlane Dick, 2006) 1. helps clarify what good performance is (goals, criteria, expected standards); 2.facilitates the development of self-assessment (reflection) in learning; 3.delivers high quality information to students about their learning; 4. encourages teacher and peer dialogue around learning; 5. encourages positive motivational beliefs and self esteem; 6. provides opportunities to close the gap between current and desired performance; 7.provides information to teachers that can be used to help shape teaching 2

Evaluating groupwork 1. General description how your group have worked with science books 2. Has participation been equal/ unequal in your group? 3. How has your group developed during the writing process? 4. How satisfied you are 1) in your group and 2) in your book? Justify. Evaluation criteria Knowledge base All key points must be succinctly developed. Concepts are to be clearly elaborated and knowledge well established. Students should demonstrate familiarity with the phenomenon being studied. Structure Work produced show clear arrangement. Opening, body and closing should be adequately conceptualized and structured. Title and subtitle should also be concise and informative. Overall design and presentation must adhere to guidelines. Use of references - References must be utilized in accordance to instructions given. All sources should be properly documented. Analysis and reflection The main ideas of the project must be well evaluated by the group. The discussions and conclusion presented should be critical and analytical, and thoughtful considerations given to the materials used. Collaboration Every individual is expected to contribute accordingly. Each member of the group should be equally committed to the outcome of the project. 6
