ALTERNATIVES FOR BUILDING GLOBAL IMPACT IN COMMERCIALISATION? 1. Invest in the expansion of HIS resources: Recruit an international IP license sales and marketing team. Start building a global network of investors. Work systematically in order to build a globally known brand and client network within relevant industries. AND/OR => Slow and expensive. 2. Partner with a globally operating commercialisation company: Immediate access to global networks with industry, investors and leading universities. Access to experienced licensing teams. Fast increase of UH brand recognition as a source for solutions to global challenges. => Fast, annual cost, profit sharing.
CHALLENGES FOR UH SPINOUTS Finding the right contacts to investors, partners and customers from global markets. Finnish seed investor community is lacking players with capacity and experience to support startups seeking fast growth. Seed investments from local investors are modest in size, and investors are hesitant to take risk. Hard to find entrepreneurs with expertise and experience to convert startups into international success stories.
