KY s Future
New Strategy We are creating a new strategy for KY One of the most important changes is bringing volunteers and clubs to the center at KY Strategy includes five Key Initiatives Student Center Digital KY Active Alumni Network Societal Impact Lean Organization
Student Center KY is planning to create a new building in Otaniemi together with AYY and TF Situated in front of the library Building scheduled to complete in 2022
Business 3.0 The new building for the School of Business will be completed in Otaniemi next year Masters students and faculties will move to new spaces in September 2019 Aalto BIZ functions in Töölö will stop The new building is for masters students only, bachelor s students will continue in the U wing ARTS will move to the new Väre Building in September 2018
KY Building There is still activities in the KY Building, but the building is mostly empty A pragmatic decision regarding the KY Building will be made It is possible that the building is sold and changed to be a hotel or offices Our primary goal is to keep the building in KY s ownership and create student housing once again
Changes to Exchange Grants KY s exchange grants will be termined in two years You can still apply for grants in 2018 and 2019 Funds will be increasingly used to support clubs and for strategic endeavors
Suomen Ekonomit KY Representative Council is discussing whether or not KY should be a part of the union Students don t have real opportunities for making an impact in the union There are large-scale structural problems in the union HEKO (Helsingin ekonomit) decides everything, often against the Board Relationships inside the union are distrustful Students want to make an impact but can t, since they have very few votes
The Role of Tutors
The tasks of Tutors The responsibility of tutors is to grow mursu s into KY members and introduce them to our culture and a hundred-year long continuum In practice: teach them the ways of KY and help them get new friends Be positive and encourage mursus to try things and get involved KY offers a large amount of clubs and activities; something for everyone Urge them to visit info evenings Don t merely recommend acitivities you were a part of, instead encourage them to try everything Spread a good attitude towards KY, Aalto and the School of Business Urge mursus to be active and make a difference: stand for elections and vote! Pro tip: encourage to be a part of Aalto community once they have friends at KY
Mursu Passport The purpose of Mursu Passport is for mursus to get to know each other and the diverse KY activities during the fall Mursus collect points through attending events and get prizes such as the song book and the KY ribbon The more points, the more prizes! Passports will be returned in December and mursus with the most points will rewarded in Puurojuhla
Mursu Passport This year there are no stamps or stickers; events are marked with a pen Before the passport is returned, you need to write your signature on the last page. This is to ensure that the mursu has really attended the events and done tasks. No bluffing with the passport! ;) Your attitude is to most important part of the concept of the Mursu Passport. Consider it as a fun thing and encourage mursus to collect points! Tip: Visit events together with your tutor group and then mark events to the passport. This way the interest to using the passport will stay for the whole autumn, as the whole group takes part!
Member Recruiting It is your task to ensure that all of your mursus become KY members! By being a member mursus get to attend KY events, get member benefits and gets to a part of one-hundred-year-old traditions You only get dollar-green overalls if you are a KY member! So it is very important that your mursus are members before the Mursu Fair Membership is free You prove your membership with the KY sticker. The sticker can be placed on a student card that has the year s AYY sticker on it. Mursus that don t have a student card will instead get a KY stamp to the membership receipt once they are KY members
You can join KY during Orientation Week At the member recruiting stand Mursu championships Mursu Fair @ Espilä At kyweb.fi (bottom of the page, Join KY!) Exchange students don t need to join KY
Thanks!
