OSW -ulkokalvon asentaminen

Parempi ympäristö sisälle ja ulos. Aurinkosuoja- ja turvakalvot OSW -ulkokalvon asentaminen Bekaertin Outside Weatherable -kalvojen (OSW) pinnassa on hyvin kestävä acryylipinnoite, mikä mahdollistaa normaalien ikkunkalvojen mukaisen, helpon asentamisen. Pintakovuuden vuoksi tulee toimia erityisen varovaisesti välttääkseen kalvojen rypistymisen asennettaessa. Työn viimeistelyssä on tärkeää varmistaa reunojen kunnollinen kiinnittyminen. Seuraavien ohjeiden avulla varmistat kunnollisen kalvojen asentamisen. Huom. Valmistaja ei suosittele kalvoasennusta erityisen tuulisella ilmalla tai lämpötilan laskiessa alle + 5 C (40 F). 1 2 3 VARMISTA IKKUNAPINNAN PUHTAUS a. Pese ikkunapinta miedolla pesuaineella (esim. 2 tippaa astianpesuainetta / 2 litraa vettä) ja tiskiharjalla. b. Pese uudelleen ja käytä nyt terällistä puhdistuslastaa pinnan epäpuhtauksien poistamiseksi. c. Huuhtele huolellisesti ja kuivaa ikkunalastalla. d. Varmista reunat kuivaamalla ne nukattomalla kankaalla. e. Varmista vielä lopuksi, että ikkunan pinta on todellakin puhdas kaikesta irtoliasta. Pese ikkuna tarvittaessa uudelleen. KALVOJEN VALMISTELU a. Poista rullasta molemmat päätykappaleet pintaa suojaavan muovikelmun poistamiseksi. b. Lisää vielä päädyt takaisin ja laita rulla omaan laatikkoonsa. c. Mittaa ikkunapokien sisäpuolelta oikean kalvokoon saamiseksi. d. Kalvo tulee leikata 6mm ( 1/4 ) kauttaaltaan pienemmäksi kuin asennettavan lasin koko pokien sisäpuolelta. e. Kastele kalvo huolellisesti pesunesteellä. f. Vedä kalvorulla pois laatikosta ja aseta kalvon pintasuoja itseesi päin 3mm ikkunan yläosaa alemmaksi. g. Kasteltu kalvo pysyy paikoillaan lasin pinnassa koko leikkauksen ajan. h. Leikkaa kalvon alareuna 3mm (1/8 ) reunan yli. POISTA SUOJAKELMU a. OSW -ulkokalvo on paineherkkä ja se tarttuu helposti. Tämän vuoksi pinta suojataan poistettavalla suojakelmulla. Muistathan poistaa se seuraavaksi. b. Rulla kalvo uudelleen, jotta kelmu jää rullassa sisäpuolelle kuten kuvassa. 4 c. Lisää yleisteippipalanen yhteen kalvon reunaan ja lisää toinen teippipalanen reunan vastapäiselle puolelle. d. Vetämällä teipeistä varovaisesti vastakkaisiin suuntiin saat helposti erotettua suojakelmun ikkunkalvosta. e. Heti kelmun ja kalvon erottamisen alkuvaiheessa aloita paljastuneen kalvon suihkuttaminen pesunesteellä. Jatka suihkuttamista koko irrottamisprosessin ajan. Kelmua et tarvitse enää, joten voit heittää sen roskikseen. f. Suihkuta kalvon pinta ja ikkuna vielä kerran, jotta molemmat pinnat ovat riittävän märkiä. Lastoita kalvon yläosasta keskeltä alaspäin ja kohti reunoja. Vain näin saat varmistettua, että kaikki kosteus poistuu kalvon alta. KALVON ASENTAMINEN a. Aseta kalvon sisäpuoli ikkunan pintaa vasten pitämällä kalvon yläreunasta kiinni. Varmista, ettei kalvo saa kosketusta mihinkään muuhun. Ole myös erityisen varovainen, ettet taita voimakkaasti tai rypistä kalvoa. b. Suihkuta pintaan Plexusta (kalvon viimeistelyainetta). Sen avulla voit liikutella kalvoa vapaasti ikkunan pinnalla. c. Aseta kalvo paikoilleen jättämällä 3mm (1/8 ) rako kalvon ja ikkunakehyksen väliin, jotta ylimääräinen vesi poistuu kalvon alta ja saat kiinnitettyä myös reunat huolellisesti. d. Kastele kalvoa sen päältä niin paljon, että kiinnityslasta liukuu helposti pinnalla. Työstä koko kalvo huolellisesti aloittamalla lastoitus yläosasta keskeltä ja vedä kohti kalvon reunoja. Vain huolellisesti lastoittamalla saat kaiken pinnan alle jääneen veden poistettua ja kiinnitettyä kalvon oikeanmukaisesti. e. HUOM. Älä käytä lastoja, jotka ovat kovempia kuin 90 dm! 5 REUNOJEN VIIMEISTELY a. Kaikki ulkokalvojen reunat tulee viimeistellä huolellisesti, jotta vältetään kosteuden siirtyminen takaisin kalvon alle ja kalvo toimii takuun mukaisesti. b. Käytä vain hyväksyttyjä tiivistysaineita: Dow Corning 995, 795 tai 790, GE SSG4000/4800J, Silicone II, SilPruf DuraSil, DuraSil W15 sekä Tremco TremPro 647. Korvaavat tuotteet mitätöivät tuotetakuun. c. Tiivistysaine tulee levittää kalvon kuivumisen jälkeen, yleensä 5-7 päivän jälkeen kalvon asentamisesta. Tästä käytännöstä poikkeaminen mitätöi tuotetakuun. d. Kalvo tulee kiinnittää sekä ikkunapintaan että -kehykseen. Tiivistysainetta on hyvä levittää noin 3mm -6mm (1/8-1/4 ) paksuisesti kalvon ja ikkunakehyksen väliin, jotta voidana varmistaan kalvon vesitiivis viimeistely. Huom. Käytä Cartridge gun -säiliölevityslaitetta viimeistelyssä. IKKUNAN PERIMETRIATAULUKKO Käytä oheista taulukkoa hahmottaaksesi tarvittavan tiivisteainemäärän. Määrittääksesi kuinka paljon tiivistettä tarvitset asennukseen, valitse taulukosta kiinnitettävän ikkunan mukaiset mitat. Valitse tiivisteaineen pisarakoko saadaksesi oikeat määrät. TIIVISTÄMINEN 1. Valmistele levityslaite: Tiivisteaineen tulee peittää vain ikkunakalvon näkyvät reunat. Valmistele tiivisteen levityslaite niin että se antaa tarvittavan pisarakoon ja määrän asentamiseen. Mikäli tiivistepisaroita tippuu muuallekin kuin tiivistettävälle alueelle, poista pisarat välittömästi ennen niiden kuivumista. 2. Levitä tiivistysaine: Aseta levityslaitteen pää niin että suuaukon keskiosa on kalvon reunalla ja noin 15-30 astetta lasin pinnasta. Levitä tiiviste yhtäjaksoisella vedolla, mikäli vain mahdollista, ympäri kalvoa. Varmistathan, että tiiviste peittää kalvon reunat. Mahdolliset ylimääräiset tiivistejämät poistetaan kuivalla pyyhkeellä välittömästi, ennen sen kuivumista. PUHDISTAMINEN a. Käytä pehmeää kangaslastaa ikkunapinnan puhdistamiseen. (Suosittelemme 12-24 leveää lastaa käsikahvalla). Puuvilla- tai lampaannahkakangas voidaan kääriä lastan ympärille. b. Käytä hellävaraista lasten shampoota puhdistusaineena ämpärillisen veden kera. c. Älä käytä harjoja ja muita hankaavia esineitä tai aineita. d. Nämä ovat myös ehdottomasti kiellettyjä: kemikaalit, asetonit, MEK ym. e. Käytä voimakkaisiin likoihin pehmeää pyyhettä. f. Puhdistettuasi pinnan varmista, että reunoihin ei ole jäänyt kosteutta tai irtonaista likaa kuten hiekkaa. Näin varmistetaan, ettei pintaan jää naarmuttavia ainesosia. Puhdista mahdolliset liat pehmeällä kertakäyttöpaperilla ja sen jälkeen käytä vielä pehmeää lastaa tai säämiskäkangasta ja reunoihin paperipyyhettä. Solar, Safety and Security Window s: Tech Bulletin Wet glaze attachment system for safety and security To enhance the protective capabilities of safety and security s, attaching the filmed glass to the window or door frame may be required. This is especially true for hurricane protection and some bomb blast requirements but it also improves the protection against entry from smash and grab type burglars. While there are numerous ways to attach the film to the frame, the wet glaze method is one of the easiest and least expensive. This attachment system consists of applying a Dow 995 Structural Silicone Sealant to the film and the frames by using a caulking gun. While the film is adequate in containing the shards of broken glass, the broken glass/film composite can be removed from the frame if enough pressure is exerted. This pressure can come from air pressure (hurricane or bomb blast) or from physical pressure from an intruder. The application of the attachment system can resist these forces well beyond what an unattached film could resist. The installation instructions listed below are for the installation of the sealant only. It is assumed that the film has already been installed satisfactorily to the glass. Materials Sealant: Dow 995 Structural Silicone Sealant is a single component neutral cure system, which will dry at room temperature. Dow 995 is recommended since we have test data to support its use as an anchoring system. Tests using the Dow 995 include both bomb blast and hurricane testing. The Dow 995 is available from your service center and comes in black, gray and white. The sealant will possess full adhesion strength in 14 to 21 days and exhibit excellent bond strength and elongation after curing. The drying or tooling time is 8 to 15 minutes after application. The sealant only comes in a 20 oz. sausage and a larger caulking gun is required. We suggest the Cox caulking gun part number 0764. Backer Rod: Backer rods are simply expanded urethane foam in circular form, which come in various diameters. Macklenburg- Duncan (MD) is probably the best known manufacturer of the backer rods but other manufacturers products will work equally as well since the product is used as a spacer and performs no other function. These products are available at any home center or hardware store. They are usually found in the insulation section. Preparation for Installation Step 1: Clean window or door frames: The best way to clean the frames is to use isopropyl alcohol with a lint free towel. Simply wipe the frames and let dry. Stubborn stains may require some rubbing to remove. Make sure frames are dry prior to installing sealant. Step 2: Mask area to be caulked. Using a good grade of painter s masking tape, mask around the entire perimeter of the filmed glass and the frame. Masking tape should be a minimum of 1 to 1 ½ in width to provide adequate protection. For bomb blast protection, you should mask the film a minimum of ½ away from the frame and ½ away from the glass. For hurricane protection, you should mask a minimum of ¼ away from the glass and ¼ away from the frame. MASKING TAPE ON GLASS 1 2 From Frame Step 3: Removing glazing gaskets and inserting backer rod: Glazing gaskets should be removed to provide better bonding to the glass and frame by the sealant. Remove glazing gasket one side at a time as to insure that the glass stays in place. Once the glazing gasket is removed (see illustration 1), a backer rod should be = Masking Tape inserted in the cavity left by the removal of the glazing gasket (see illustration 2). The backer rod should be appropriate size for the cavity. 2. MASKING TAPE ON FRAME AND GLASS (TOP AND SIDE VIEW) 1. Application of Sealant Step 1: Dry the filmed glass and framing members: Using a dry towel, make certain that all the surfaces where you need to apply sealant are dry to the touch. Any residual water will negatively affect the sealant s ability to bond to the surfaces. Step 2: Preparing the caulking gun: The tip of the caulking gun should be cut to allow the correct amount of sealant to be discharged from the gun. If you are sealing with a ½ coverage on the film and the frame, the opening should be ¾ to 1 in diameter. If you are sealing with a ¼ coverage on the film and the frame, the opening should ½ to ¾ in diameter. Make certain to use drop cloths in any areas where the sealant could possibly drip. Step 3: Applying the sealant: Place the tip of the caulking gun in the center of the channel formed by the masking tape and apply the sealant. Do this in as continuous a manner as possible avoiding stops and starts and go around the entire perimeter of the window. Make certain that sealant is completely filling the cavity between the frame and the glass. Step 4: Tooling the sealant: Smooth or tool the sealant bead with a flat plastic putty knife or spatula to create a flat triangular bead when finished (see illustration 3). This should be done within 5 minutes after 3. application of the sealant. The tool should be wide Caulk enough to cover the width of the bead but not so wide as to bridge it. Once the entire perimeter is tooled, the masking tape can be removed. This should be done as soon as tooling is completed so the excess sealant will come away cleanly. Use every precaution when removing the tape since the excess sealant might come into contact with surroundings. Any residual sealant can be wiped away with a dry towel if done quickly. If not, then Xylene can be used to clean away the sealant that the towel could not remove. Summary By following these instructions, you should be able to create a satisfactory bead that will provide your customer with added protection for their windows and doors. Make certain you read any instructions provided by the manufacturer regarding the use of their products. If you have not had any experience in applying sealant, it is strongly suggested that you practice on some windows prior to applying sealant on a customer s windows. A better environment inside and out. Solar, Safety and Security Window s Tech Bulletin Edge Protection Sealant Instructions All Solar Gard LX70 installations require an edge sealant. One method is to use the Edge Protection Sealant (EPS) system described below. Other methods are presented at the end of this document. EPS must be properly installed using a Bekaert Specialty s approved applicator. 1 2 3 Install the film making certain to remove as much installation solution as possible during the squeegeeing process. Once the film has been properly installed, the edge protection sealant can be applied on a window-by- window basis or after all windows have been completed. The edge protection sealant can be applied as long as the edges of the film, untreated glass and window frames are completely dry. Dip a supplied applicator into the installer bottle containing edge protection sealant. Take care to wipe off any excess sealant from the applicator tip on the inside of the bottle. The tip should not have any visible liquid showing. Illustration 1 4 5 6 7 8 Using the window molding as a guide, place the tapered part of the applicator on the edge of film. With a smooth, continuous motion, run the applicator for a distance of 60 cm - 90 cm (2 to 3 feet), applying sealant continuously on the edge of the product (see Illustration #1). Re-wet the applicator and continue in the same manner, beginning at the stopping point of your previous stroke. Make certain no uncoated area exists between the two strokes. Change applicators when coating no longer looks smooth or the edge is not fully covered. Never dispose of an applicator in the customer s home or place of business. Continue in this manner until all edges have been adequately covered. Once all edges are covered, visually inspect to make certain no uncoated areas exist. Place cap on installer bottle and remove all EPS items from the job site. Store used applicators in a metal tin or plastic bag until you can properly dispose of them. Never dispose of any EPS item at the job site. Use angled edge of tip to apply sealant 2-3 Edge of 1/32 gap provided by 5-way tool Applicator Overlap edge of with sealant FILM NOTE: One quart of BSF s edge protection sealant will cover approximately 2,900 meters (9,500 lineal feet) of edge or 122 cm x 213 cm (425-48 in x 84) in sliding glass panels. EPS clean up instructions 9 10 Should clean up be necessary, Bekaert recommends using mineral spirits to wipe up any spills or excess sealant. Mineral spirits are available at any paint store or home center. Do not use paint thinner, acetone or MEK. Clean used installer bottles when you return to your shop. Pour a small amount of mineral spirits into the installer bottle, replace the cap, shake vigorously for a few seconds and pour out into a proper disposal can. Cleaning the installer bottle should never be performed in the customer s home or place of business. Apply sealant continuously for 60 cm - 90 cm (2-3 ) along edge of and frame. Re-wet applicator and begin at last stopping point.

Other edge sealing compounds While edge sealing LX70 film is still a requirement, other methods are available in addition to EPS. Any of the following types of caulking compounds or sealants will provide sufficient edge sealing: 100% Silicone Caulk or Sealant (Neutral Curing) Acrylic Latex Silicone Sealant or Caulk 100% Acrylic Sealant or Caulk Special precautions for 8 Mil LX70 and application of wet-glazing sealant If Dow Corning 995 is utilized as a wet-glaze anchoring system to the 8 Mil LX70, then the EPS does not need to be applied. Dow Corning 995 provides an excellent barrier to the environment and its neutral curing properties will not impact the 8 Mil LX70 s long term durability. Many of these are available at your local hardware stores, paint stores or home centers. The manufacturers listed below make one or all of the types listed above: Dow Corning General Electric (GE) DAP Polyseamseal Bostik Tecora While there may well be other manufacturers that make caulks and sealants, be certain that it is one of the three types mentioned above. Also, make sure that the material will air dry. These are sometimes referred to as Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV). Any caulk or sealant shown to contain any acid or acid compounds should be strenuously avoided. Remember, you do not need a large amount of the caulk or sealant to seal the edges, so use as little as possible to achieve an acceptable appearance of the sealed edges.
