2nd BONE AND SOFT TISSUE SYMPOSIUM ON THE 5th OF SEPTEMBER 2014 TERVETULOA Bone and Soft Tissue Symposium antaa syventävää tietoa pehmyt- ja kovakudosten käsittelystä implantoinnissa, toimenpiteiden ajoituksesta ja eri työvaiheiden yhteisvaikutuksesta. Symposiumin kruunaa vauhdikas iltajuhla. Lämpimästi tervetuloa! Luento: Peri-implantitis and failure management The management of infectious diseases affecting osseointegrated implants in function has become a demanding issue in implant dentistry. While nonsurgical therapy of peri-implantitis was not found to be effective, access flap surgery was associated with a resolution of the inflammatory cell infiltrate and promotion of new bone fill. Basically, surgical therapy of peri-implantisis may be accomplished employing resective and-/ or regenerative approaches and should carefully consider the specific defect component (i.e. intrabony and supracrestal aspects). New insights into the etiology, improvements in surgical techniques, innovative methods for surface debridement and decontamination and most recent innovations in biomaterials and soft tissue volume augmentation offer new perspectives for the management of peri-implantitis. Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to: PROF. FRANK SCHWARZ 1. Identify the major risk indicators for peri-implant diseases 2. Understand the limitations of nonsurgical treatment procedures 3. Select appropriate surgical procedures for the management of peri-implantitis Prof. Dr. Frank Schwarz 1993 1998 Dental School, University of Saarland, Homburg, German 2001 Dr. med. dent. 2003 Postgraduate Degree Oral Surgery 2005 Habilitation Priv. Luento: Soft- and hard tissue management around implants and extraction sites Dental implants have emerged to an important treatment modality in modern dentistry. Improvements in surface and material characteristics have led to a predictable and fast osseointegration of the implant fixture. On the other hand the soft tissue mantle around implants is still raising questions for clinicians and researchers with respect to anterior esthetics and its importance in closing off microbial organisms. Furthermore ridge preservation techniques have gained interest due to the possibilities to prepare the site for delayed or late implant placement. Interestingly in all timing indications of implant dentistry (immediate implant, delayed implant, late implant placement) soft tissue management plays a pivotal role to improve esthetics and create a tight soft tissue seal. PRIV. DOZ. DR. STEFAN FICKL The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate the applicability of soft tissue management techniques for site preparation (ridge preservation), immediate implant placement and late implant placement and to present modern materials and techniques to limit patient morbidity. Kuka on implanttipotilas, millaisella viestinnällä pystyn vaikuttamaan potilaan päätökseen hoidon aloittamisessa?
