8 Aki Ala-Välkkilä Seinäjoen koulutuskuntayhtymä The Guest Competitors Benjamin Hebert / Région Nord-Pas de Calais / Ranska Emeric Deheuninck / Région Nord-Pas de Calais / Ranska Vocational Qualification: Automation assembler Overall Description of the Skills Area Automation assemblers usually work in manufacturing, automation of processes or property management.they perform tasks related to assembling, monitoring, maintaining and commissioning automation. Automation assemblers have to be familiar with the products of several different manufacturers of equipment, components and control systems and know how to install, connect, use and program them.these brands include ABB, Omron, Siemens, SMC, Mitsubishi, Festo, Sick, Phoenix Contact and Rittall, among others.the competitors have to be able to use the aforementioned products or corresponding ones at Taitaja2014 Competition as well. Electromechanical installations and control systems used in manufacturing automation are the focus in the competition tasks of mechatronics. The tasks have been compiled in cooperation with representants from working life. The competition tasks will be given at the competition premises. Form of Competition 8 / 12

9 The form of the competition is pair competition. Competence requirements The competition tasks are based on the requirements and the assessment criteria of Excellent (3) of the Vocational Qualification in Electrical Engineering and the Vocational Qualification in Metalwork and Machinery, Study Program in Automation Technology and Maintenance as well as the requirements of working life for a young worker. The required competence areas in the Vocational Qualification in Electrical Engineering are Electrical and automation assembly (20 cr), Manufacturing automation (20 cr) and Property automation and IT systems (20 cr). The required competence areas in the Vocational Qualification in Metalwork and Machinery are Electromechanical assembly (20 cr), Automation assembly (20 cr) and Machine automation installation (10 cr). Competition tasks Competition tasks at the finals and time allotted to perform them Competition Day 1 ( hours) Task 1: Installing, programming and commissioning a robot assembly line (90 min) A robot assembly line is installed in accordance with the given instructions and documents.the competitor programs the functions of the assembly line, teaches the robot cells and gets the assembly line into a working condition. Task 2: Installating, programming and commissioning a handling station (210 min) A handling station is installed, wired up and connected in accordance with the given instructions and documents. The functions of the handling station are programmed and the station is set into a working condition. Competition Day 2 ( hours) Task 3: Installing, configuring and programming the logic for a machine vision camera and testing its operation(120 min) A machine vision system is installed in accordance with the given instructions and documents. The functions are programmed and the station is set into a working condition. Task 4: Installing, connecting, programming and commissioning a safety equipment system and testing its operation (Sick Oy) (210 min) A safety equipment system is installed, wired up and connected in accordance with the given instructions and documents. The functions of the system are programmed and the system is set into a working condition. Competition Day 3 ( hours) Task 5: Installing and programming a touch screen panel into a Pick and Place Station and 9 / 12

10 testing its operation (60 min) The task is to install a HMI panel while preserving the functions of the station as they used to be before the installation. Task 6: Compiling, programming and commissioning a production line in its entirety (180 min) A production line is installed in accordance with the given instructions and documents. The functions are programmed and the production line is set into a working condition. Assessment The competition tasks are modular which means that the results can be announced at the end of each competition day. Areas of assessment Task 1. Installing, programming and commissioning a robot assembly line (10 p) Assessment criteria: Installation, performance, work quality and finish, entrepreneurship. Task 2. Installing, programming and commissioning a handling station (25 p) Asessment criteria: I/O connections, functioning of the program, work quality and finish, occupational safety, appropriate working methods and tools. Task 3. Installing and configuring a machine vison camera, programming its logic and testing its operation (15 p) Asessment criteria: Installation, functioning of the camera in the station, work quality and finish, occupational safety Task 4. Installing and connecting a safety equipment system, commissioning its programming and testing its operation (20 p) Assessment criteria: Installation, parameterization, performance, commissioning, work quality and finish. The equipment used in the task is hired for the competition. Thus, the competitors must make sure that the equipment is not damaged during the competition. The condition of the equipment and the packaging materials is also going to be assessed. Task 5. Installing and programming a touch screen panel into a Pick and Place Station and testing its operation. (10p) Assessment criteria: Installation, appearance and functioning of the screen, work quality and finish, occupational safety. Task 6. Compiling, programming and commissioning a production line in its entirety (20p) Assessment criteriat: I/O-connections, functioning of the production line, work qualty and finish, occupational safety. Description of carrying out the assessment Points will be given separately to each task in an objective manner. Subjective assessment is implemented when the competitor self-evaluates his own work. Materials, equipment and work stations at the competition site 10 / 12

11 The competition site (140 m 2 ) contains seven assembly stations. All stations are equipped with appropriate workbenches as well as compressed air and current supply points. Materials and equipment the competitors must bring along Each competitor must have his/her own personal tools, protective equipment and work outfits. Equipment and tools have to be commercially manufactured and safety accepted. The competitor is responsible for their condition and storage. The team must have two sets of logical chassis with cabling suitable for MPS stations and a touch screen control panel suitable for the logic. System administrator rights have to be found in the computer that is used in programming A more detailed list of tools and equipment will be published later and ed to the trainers.
