ENSURING ENERGY SELF-SUFFICIENCY Toppila 1 CHP power plant will be at the end of the life cycle 2020 Planning of a new power plant unit has been started New CHP unit entering production for heating season 2020-2021 Size of the investment 250 300M Increase of use of recycled and renewable fuels up to 70 100% National suppport policy for for renewable energy is under preparation (new policy in force 2018?) Without the knowledge of the structure of the new support system it is not possible to make the profitability calculation about the replacement investment. Direct investment is the most effective way to ensure the competitiveness of CHP power plant in the current turbulent operational environment Use of the domestic peat will be necessary also in the future to secure increasing deployment of renewables. The use of energy peat is the best way to avoid for example growing use of fossil fuels instead. 16.6.2016
