11 Reasons to take part Glasgow ITS Europe 2016 A unique network opportunity: think of the 20 experts you would most like to hear from or talk to and 18 of them will be in Glasgow The European Commission takes extensive part in the Congress hear from them and make valuable contacts The Congress is located at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) which is just a short walk from the City Centre on the banks of the River Clyde The event consists of an extensive exhibition, with an adjacent area for live demonstrations and a programme of high level and technical sessions providing the opportunity for the industry s experts and political leaders to discuss current issues both formally at over 100 sessions and more informally during an extensive social programme The City s Lord Provost will also invite Mayors of other European Cities to attend a Mayoral Summit during which solutions will be sought to common ITS problems experienced in European Cities Glasgow ITS Europe is the biggest ITS networking opportunity in Europe in 2016

12 Congress format Glasgow ITS Europe 2016 Plenary Sessions All attendees are welcome to join the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Plenary Sessions in which major personalities from today s world of ITS will present their personal views on key ITS issues. Executive Sessions Photo: Tokyo ITS World 2013 In these sessions a range of senior experts including highlevel industry executives, public officials and academics will draw from their experiences to discuss key topical policies, problems and issues. As well as reviewing current challenges and achievements these Sessions provide an exciting opportunity to learn about future ITS initiatives. Special Interest Sessions Organised at the request of organisations or groups of experts developing and deploying ITS, these interactive, tailor-made meetings create an opportunity to explore in- depth specific topics. Stakeholder Workshops Because the Congresses attract delegates from around the world the practice has developed of organising open informal sessions ( Workshops ) at which new or contentious issues can be extensively discussed by anyone with an interest in that topic ( Stakeholders ).

13 Congress format Glasgow ITS Europe 2016 Technical/Scientific Sessions These sessions are composed of presentations by international experts on varying ITS related topics encompassing all technical, scientific, economic, organisational and societal aspects of ITS. They aim to encourage and enable the exchange of information on deployment ranging from improving the operational use of systems and services on the one hand to research and development in support of new applications on the other.

14 Sessions in the Exhibition area Glasgow ITS Europe 2016 Interactive Sessions As the name implies, Interactive Sessions facilitate information exchange by providing a two stage workshop style format with an extended time frame to enable presenters to reach and exchange with appropriate audiences of interested delegates. In the first stage, a group of 7-8 technical/scientific papers covering the same topic are introduced with each speaker limited to 3 slides with no time for questions and answers. The aim is to give the audience the flavour of what the authors have to present. The second stage immediately follows the presentations. This is an opportunity for extended discussions between speakers and the audience in the form of group debates or one-to-one exchanges. Each speaker will have a screen available to show additional material. Interactive Sessions take place in a dedicated area in the Exhibition to encourage contact between paper authors and exhibitors. Commercial Paper Sessions These are presentations of Technical or/and Scientific Papers judged by reviewers and the International Programme Committee to be near-market rather than pre-market, or where authors have specifically requested the specialised Theatre venue in the Exhibition. Commercial Papers describe an activity aimed at generating or improving a specific product, device or idea for the market. Papers will be assembled around similar themes and presented in groups with a moderator. Industry Insight Sessions These are Special Interest Sessions with a particularly strong commercial or deployment flavour. The sessions should follow an interactive debate/ discussion format with full audience engagement rather than the old-style series of PowerPoint presentations. Sessions have been reviewed and accepted by the International Programme Committee.

16 Gala Dinner at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum Glasgow ITS Europe 2016 The magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum will be the stunning location for the Gala Dinner of ITS Glasgow 2016 on Wednesday 8 June. This prestigious venue will offer to all participants one of the city s most spectacular settings for a magical evening combining culture and fine cuisine. The Museum s magnificent collection can also be viewed by guests during the evening. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum houses one of Europe s great art collections. It is amongst the top three free-to-enter visitor attractions in Scotland and one of the most visited museums in the United Kingdom outside London.
