Tutkimusalue löytyi AREVA Resources Finlandin (ARF) uraanitutkimuksilla syyskuun 2008 puolivälissä! 2009: ARF:n uraaninetsinnän lopetus => vain pieniä tarkistuksia, mutta AREVA haki valtaukset Rompakseen! 2010: Mawson osti kaikki AREVAn Suomen malminetsintäkohteet ja aloitti tutkimukset: linja-km/150 km2 matalalentomittausta >2900 kivi- ja määperänäytettä: uranäytteenotto, moreeniraskasmineraali- ja Ah-näytteenotto! 2011: Näytteenotto (maaperä ja uranäytteenotto) jatkui! Bonanza luokan kultapitoisuuksia noin 6 km:n matkalla o Kairauksissa on tullut lävistys, jossa on 617 g/t Au yli 6 m:n matkalla, sisältäen 1 m/3540g/t Au, lisäksi on yli 100 g/t pitoisuuksia! Paras saattaa olla vielä edessä: o Nyt kun 110 valtausta ovat saaneet lainvoiman, paljon suurempi osuus Rompaksen vyöhykkeestä voidaan kairata! Toinen, korkeita kultapitoisuuksia sisältävä alue on paikannettu o Rajapalojen Au-U malminetsintäalue vain 8 km:n päässä, alueen paras analysoitu pitoisuus on 2 817g/t Au;! Maailmanlaajuisestikin prosentteihin yltävät kultapitoisuudet ovat harvinaisia, sana on vasta alkanut levitä
