Project objectives Increased capacity on the railway section Seinäjoki Oulu meet the challenges posed by increasing traffic Increased axle load (25 t) Increased speed in passenger traffic (200 km/h) on the whole railway section Seinäjoki Oulu thereafter 200 km/h speed level on the main line between Tikkurila and Oulu, over 660 km Improvement of existing structures Improved safety Functional entities are completed and taken into use as soon as possible without inconveniencing traffic

Competitive tendering of contracts Contracts are put out to tender in accordance with the Procurement Act on entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors Procurements exceeding the EU thresholds shall be put out to tender. These thresholds are: 400,000 euros, procurements of goods and services 400,000 euros, procurements concerning planning 5 000 000 euros, procurements concerning building contracts <PVM> <Laatija> 10
Some challenges during the project Lack of railway contruction resources in Finland some procurements have been forced to suspend due to the expensive offers or offers haven t been received at all Most of the line is single track reconciliation of construction works and traffic <PVM> <Laatija> 11
