Cultural managers are art and business experts who make cultural projects possible. They are responsible for smooth running of a cultural event or service. They make sure that it is planned well and carried out professionally, and it reaches its customers and achieves the objectives.
Experience Enablers Cultural Managers graduating from Metropolia work in public and private sector tasks as well as cultural entrepreneurs. Those who have completed a Master s degree can also further their career in development tasks in the creative industry or by designing service concepts linking cultural work with other fields. Unique Production Professionals BACHELOR OF CULTURE AND ARTS (Cultural Management) The studies leading to a Bachelor s degree in Cultural Management provide the skills for the different areas of cultural management, enabling graduates to work as experts or entrepreneurs in commercial, public sector or third sector organisations. The programme offers students knowledge, skills and competence in the management of various cultural events. In addition, each student specialises in a certain cultural segment, management area or target group. In order to guarantee individual professional skills, students carry out several workplaceoriented productions as part of their studies. The training prepares the students for challenging and diverse organisational tasks in the field of culture.
Driving Force of Culture and Creative Industries MASTER S DEGREE IN CULTURE AND ARTS (Cultural Management) The studies leading to a Master s degree in Cultural Management provide more in-depth and broad knowledge for cultural management professionals working in the creative sector s production tasks. The training is provided by Metropolia in cooperation with HUMAK University of Applied Sciences. The graduates of the degree programme will be qualified for managerial and development work in the field. This calls for the proactive ability to recognize social and international change concerning the cultural sector. The final thesis, which is often related to development needs at the student s workplace, forms a key part of the studies. Having completed the degree, graduates will be able to work as managers and developers in the cultural production sector, identifying social and international changes taking place in the sector and successfully combining research with the latest developments of their own field.
