Brief Introduction A-Link 3GU USB modem is a type of multi-mode, 3G wireless USB modem, applicable for HSDPA/HSUPA/WCDMA/EDGE/GPRS/GSM. With USB interface to connect to PC, it integrates functions of modem and combines mobile communication with the internet perfectly. Via HSDPA/HSUPA/WCDMA/EDGE/GPRS/GSM mobile network, it carries out Data service and SMS services, helping you break away from limitation of time and zone, and communicate wirelessly anytime and anywhere. Quick Installation Guide 1. Hardware Installation A) Insert the SIM card into the 3GU USB modem: Insert the SIM card with the metal contact tip face up into the 3GU SIM card tray tightly. See step 1. on below picture. Put SIM card tray back to 3GU USB modem. See step 2. on below picture. 3
B) Insert the 3GU USB modem into PC: NOTE! Before you insert 3GU USB modem, turn ON your PC and make sure that you have necessary updates installed to your operating system. (Example Windows2000 Service Pack 4 or newer and WindowsXP Service Pack 2 or newer)instructions Linux operating systems can be found from modem memory or from website http://www.a-link.com. Insert the 3GU USB modem into PC s USB port. See step 1. on below picture. You can also use provided USB cable to get better connection performance. See step 2. on below picture. When the indicator led turns on, the 3GU USB modem is properly inserted. 4
2. Software Installation A) Windows 2000/XP/Vista The installation pop-up window appears on display if the PC s system supports installation automatically. (If the installation auto run failed, please run QsSetup.exe program) Select the language applicable to the operating system, click Next. Choose I accept the terms of the license agreement, click Next. 5
Connection Manager is now installed and ready to use. If your SIM card request PIN code, you can enter it now. Select used profile (operator) and press Connect button to connect Internet. Note! After the installation, a shortcut icon Connection Manager is created on the desktop. Select on the computer Start menu All Programs A-Link, and there is a program group listed in. 6
B) Mac OS 10.4.9 and later (Mac OS versions supported: Tiger and Leopard on Intel hardware) Insert the 3GU USB Modem to Mac PC free USB port and open icon "A-LINK_MODEM" appeared on the desktop. Double-click the A-LINK_MODEM icon. Drag the Mac OS setup icons "3GU USB modem_setup.dmg" and MACUSBDriver.dmg from A-LINK_MODEM media to the desktop. On the Desktop, click on "3GU USB modem_setup.dmg" to open the installation wizard. Follow the instructions proposals for installation. 7
At the end of the Installations close the book "3GU USB modem_setup" on the desktop Click icon "MACUSBDriver.dmg" on the Desktop to install the driver for 3GU modem. Follow the instructions proposals for installation Accept the License Agreement and start the Installation. The installation is finished. Mac OS needs to be restarted 8
Launch the software 3GU USB modem from the applications menu. Connection Manager is now installed and ready to use. If your SIM card request PIN code, you can enter it now. Select profile (operator) using icon and press Connect button to connect Internet. 9
How to use the 3GU USB modem Please prefer the User Guide or Connection Manager Help for more detailed function description of Connection Manager. Click any icon on the main menu to start corresponding function. When correct profile is selected, click Connect button. If Connect succeeded, you can surf on the Internet. With More Profiles button you can edit or add more profiles. Internet Click Internet button to view the data flow. SMS Contacts Options Help Click SMS button to do the SMS relative operations. Click Contacts button to do the phonebook relative operations. Make general setting, SMS setting, network setting, security setting, sound setting, flow warning setting and check the version information, etc. Choose Help menu to view online help. Notice: On some version Vista system, you may need to turn off the "User Account Control (UAC)" function. Please select the Windows "Control Panel"/"User Account"/"Enable/Disable User Account Control" and turn off the function. Pika-asennusohje 1. Laitteen Asennus A) Aseta SIM -kortti 3GU USB -modeemiin: Aseta SIM -kortti tiiviisti SIM -kortin pidikkeeseen, siten että, metallinen kosketuspinta on ylöspäin. Katso alla olevan kuvan kohta 1. Aseta SIM -kortin pidike takaisin 3GU USB -modeemiin. Katso alla olevan kuvan kohta 2. 13
1) Liitä 3GU USB -modeemi tietokoneeseen: HUOM! Ennen 3GU USB -modeemin liittämistä, käynnistä tietokone ja varmista, että tietokoneen käyttöjärjestelmään on asennettu tarvittavat päivitykset. (Esimerkiksi Windows2000 Service Pack 4 tai uudempi ja WindowsXP Service Pack 2 tai uudempi) Ohjeet Linux käyttöjärjestelmille löytyvät laitteen muistilta tai Internetistä osoitteesta http://www.a-link.com. Liitä 3GU USB -modeemi tietokoneen USB -porttiin. Katso alla olevan kuvan kohta 1. Voit myös käyttää mukana toimitettua USB -kaapelia saadaksesi paremman yhteyden suorituskyvyn. Katso alla olevan kuvan kohta 2. Kun merkkivalo syttyy, 3GU USB -modeemi on liitetty oikein. 14
2. Ohjelmiston Asennus Asennusikkuna ilmestyy ruutuun jos tietokone tukee automaattista käynnistystä. (Jos automaattinen käynnistys ei toimi, suorita QsSetup.exe -ohjelma) Valitse käyttöjärjestelmään sopiva kieli, paina Seuraava. Valitse Hyväksyn lisenssisopimuksen ehdot, paina Seuraava. 15
Connection Manager -ohjelmisto on nyt asennettu ja valmis käytettäväksi. Jos SIM -korttisi vaatii PIN -koodia, voit antaa sen nyt. Valitse käytettävä profiili (palveluntarjoaja) ja paina Yhdistä -painikkeesta yhdistääksesi Internetiin. Huom! Asennuksen jälkeen, työpöydälle ilmestyy Connection Manager -pikakuvake. Valitse tietokoneen Käynnistä -valikosta Kaikki Ohjelmat A-link ja sieltä löytyy ohjelmistoryhmän listaus. 16
B) Mac OS 10.4.9 tai uudempi (Tuetut Mac OS -versiot: Tiger ja Leopard Intel:in raudalla) Liitä 3GU USB Modeemi Mac -tietokoneen vapaaseen USB -porttiin ja avaa kuvake "A-LINK_MODEM" joka on ilmestynyt työpöydälle. Tupla-klikkaa A-LINK_MODEM -kuvakkeesta. Siirrä Mac OS -asennuskuvakkeet "3GU USB modem_setup.dmg" ja MACUSBDriver.dmg työpöydälle A-LINK_MODEM -mediasta. Työpöydällä, klikkaa "3GU USB modem_setup.dmg" -kuvakkeesta avataksesi asennusvelhon. Seuraa asennuksen ohjeita. 17
Asennuksen lopussa, sulje "3GU USB modem_setup" työpöydältä Klikkaa kuvaketta "MACUSBDriver.dmg" työpöydältä, asentaaksesi ajurin A-Link 3GU USB Modeemille. Seuraa asennuksen ohjeita. Hyväksy Lisenssisopimus ja käynnistä asennus. Asennus on valmis. Mac OS pitää käynnistää uudelleen. 18
Suorita 3GU USB modem -ohjelmisto Ohjelmat -valikosta. Connection Manager -ohjelma on nyt asennettu ja valmis käytettäväksi. Jos SIM -korttisi kysyy PIN -koodia, voit kirjoittaa sen nyt. Valitse profile (operaattorisi) käyttämällä kuvaketta ja paina Connect -painikkeesta yhdistääksesi Internetiin. 19
Kuinka käyttää 3GU USB -modeemia Katso Käyttöohjeesta tai Connection Manager -ohjelman Ohje -valikosta yksityiskohtaisemmat selostukset Connection Manager -ohjelman eri toiminnoista ja valikoista. Valitse mikä tahansa pääsivun kuvake avataksesi sitä vastaavan toiminnon. Kun oikea profiili on valittu, paina Yhdistä -painiketta. Jos yhteys muodostui onnistuneesti, voit aloitta Internetin Yhdistä käytön. Lisää Profiileita -painikkeella voit muokata tai lisätä profiileita. Paina Internet -kuvakkeesta katsoaksesi data -liikenteen Internet tilastoja.. Paina Viestit -kuvakkeesta käyttääksesi Viestit tekstiviestitoimintoja. Paina Yhteystiedot -kuvakkeesta käyttääksesi Yhteystiedot puhelinluettelotoimintoja. Muuta yleisiä asetuksia, Viestiasetuksia, Verkkoasetuksia, Asetukset Turvallisuusasetuksia, Ääniasetuksia, Varoitusasetuksia ja tarkista versiotietoja jne. Ohje Paina Ohje -kuvakkeesta katsoaksesi ohjeita. Huom! Joissain Vista -versioissa joudut sulkemaan käyttäjätilin hallintatoiminnon. Valitse Ohjauspaneeli -> käyttäjätilit -> ota käyttäjätilien valvonta käyttöön tai poista se käytöstä.
