The Market Plaza
Rain Garden - View
Aestethic of an artifical shaped landscape The total park area is held together by a distinctive overall landform concept. The landform is worked and crafted as if at the hands of an artist to create spatial tensions and releases. The landform expresses freedom. This is strengthened by a concept of visual clarity. The openness of the current site is a most attractive aspect of the site and is retained in the Park. The new path structures are straight, opening visual pathways and creating visual connectivity throughout the Park. A dramatic example is the view from the Market Place to the landmark on the hill opposite. The landform is artistic and active, creating individual niches, and zones for more intensely used lawn areas and more extensive meadow areas. In polarity to the bold creativity of the new landform, two landscape relicts are sensitively retained - the bolder hill at the Playground and the bedrock at the Central Lake Plaza are reinterpreted as charming archaic elements in the landscape.
