Hello and welcome to Mikkeli! As a mayor of city of Mikkeli I am proud to say that Mikkeli is a significant archiving town in Finland. Not only because Center Archive of the National Archive Service will be opened in Mikkeli in 2018, but because Mikkeli has a long tradition in archiving. Digital solutions help not only the employees of city of Mikkeli but also the citizens. Mikkeli has given a promise to be the first digital city in Finland. This Promise 2016 program includes also the idea of open data. The web page of Mikkeli s open data was opened this year and it provides information for anyone who needs for example municipality statistics for working or studying. At the same time open data can be a source of innovations for companies and universities. I hope you enjoy your visit in Mikkeli! Kimmo Mikander Mayor of city of Mikkeli Open data is a natural part of open decision making which helps the city organization to be in touch with the citizens and local companies. We in Mikkeli are really excited to try new ways to provide good services for everyone. Digitality is one path to a better service strategy.
