Leading of a Girls Studies seminar Between 1996 and 2008, I led a Girls Studies seminar, attended by students and researchers of different disciplines of the humanities and social sciences of the University of Helsinki. The seminar met on a monthly basis to discuss participants papers and presentations (usually ten meetings per academic year, circa 120 meetings of two to three hours altogether). Three Academy of Finland projects recruited their researchers from among the participants: Changing Models of Girls Cultures (1998 2001), led by Professor Satu Apo; Gender Narrated in Speech and Deed (2004 2006), led by myself; and Gender in Children s Culture (2008 2011), led by Adjunct Professor Taru Leppänen. Anna Anttila and Karoliina Ojanen finished their doctoral dissertations supervised by me; Taru Leppänen, Mia Österlund and I qualified for adjunct professorship; and Hanna Väätäinen successfully launched a post-doc researcher s career, working with the Girls Studies seminar in these projects. While active in the Girls Studies Group, participants earned academic degrees as follows: Mari Hatakka MA (folkloristics), Liisa-Maria Nitovuori MA (folkloristics), Anna Anttila Lic. Phil.
