XI / 26 HELSINKI TOURISM STATISTICS Market Report / 26 Increase in both domestic and foreign visitors' nights Nights in rose by 14.2% compared with the year before. Domestic nights were up 4.9% and foreigners' nights jumped a full 23.2%. The intense growth in foreign demand was due mainly to an EU meeting that had about 4, participants. The increase in business travel has played a key role in the rise in nights in Helsinki in 26. On the other hand leisure travel has also increased particularly from Russian and southern Europe. According to preliminary information growth continued in 26. Occupancy rate sets new record for The occupancy rate at accommodation establishments in Helsinki was 77.7% in, setting a new record for the month. In previous years the occupancy rate in has always been less than 7%. Mainly as a result of the EU meeting, the average price of accommodation also reached an all-time monthly high of 86.13 euros. Slight decrease in foreigners' average length of stay Foreign visitors' average length of stay has been a little over two nights in recent years. In the average length of stay rose to 2.8 nights, while in previous years it was in the range of 1.97-2.1 nights. Owing to shorter stays by Russian, Chinese and Japanese visitors, the figure has turned down and foreigners' average length of stay is now 2.2 nights.
