Seinäjoki as a place for business
Welcome to the most strongly growing city in Finland! The City of Seinäjoki is one of the most strongly growing and developing centres in Finland. This development stems from population growth, diversification and strengthening of industrial and commercial activity and, above all, flourishing business. Statistically, Seinäjoki is the 6th largest market area in Finland. In addition to population growth, commercial growth owes to the extensive surrounding populated areas. There are 208,000 people within the immediate market area and over 900,000 consumers within two hours driving distance. The consolidation of the municipalities of Seinäjoki, Nurmo and Ylistaro in 2009 also served to fortify the market position of Seinäjoki. The population is now 58,000 and growing by 700 800 people each year. It has been predicted that Seinäjoki will be the largest city in the old Vaasa province by 2013. The retail volume of the new Seinäjoki is EUR 670 million, i.e., EUR 12,200 per inhabitant. The importance of business is further emphasised by the fact that, in addition to strong retail sales, Seinäjoki is also a very important centre for car sales. Commerce has great prospects in Seinäjoki. This manifests itself in the new shopping centres that have sprung up in the city centre and nearby areas. Jorma Rasinmäki Mayor, City of Seinäjoki
