FUN on the top floor SMOY threw a lively party with After Work spirit on Leap Day to celebrate the opening of its new office premises. Partners and acquaintances that SMOY has accumulated over the years were invited. There was a good feeling among SMOY people on the morning of the big day, partly because for once all the desks in the office were spotlessly clean. great company but also excellent delicacies served by the Kaikilla Mausteilla catering service. A professional DJ, excellent sound production and some impressive strobe lights set the rhythm for the party. Dancers tested the living room floor and couches became venues for intense socialising. Our new premises collected praise, which was very rewarding to hear. Guests described them as comfortable with a fantastic view. The first guests arrived soon after the doors were opened at 2 pm. They were guided to the top floor of our cube house and served with opening drinks. After the initial ice-breaking, the atmosphere heated up and the hum of voices turned into roars of laughter. During the night, we had a chance to enjoy not only SMOY would like to thank all who leaped to our party. Thanks to you, the atmosphere in Lapinrinne 3 was sky-high throughout the night. HEAT RECOVERY! Enervent Oy Ab is a Finnish company that manufactures and markets ventilation units. The company is located in Porvoo and employs some 80 people. Enervent Oy s best-known brands include Pingvin, Pelican, Pegasos and Pandion. Some 30% of Enervent s production is exported, mostly to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Ireland and Estonia. The company generated turnover of EUR 10 million in 2007. Enervent Oy s cooperation with SMOY started with a need to design a brochure for its newly launched heat pump, which is integrated into a ventilation unit. Marketing such a new product that reflects green values is motivating but also presents our design team with challenges. FOCUS on sustainable living T his spring the K-rauta and Rautia store chains are approaching customers and the environment in a new manner. They have created a manual that offers advice on how in our everyday lives each of us can minimise ecological impacts. This manual for sustainable living includes advice and instructions on minimising energy and water consumption, costeffective heating, maintaining good quality indoor air, ecological waste disposal and safe living all gathered from experts in these fields. Environmental Planner Jesse Mether of Rautakesko has good reason to be pleased: From the historical perspective, our initiative was well-timed. Firstly, climate change issues have been in the headlines, and will probably continue to be prominent for some time. Secondly, rising energy prices will make even energy-change sceptics think twice about their own energy consumption. Jesse says that the level of interest has been surprisingly high and even some unexpected sectors have shown interest. The building inspection authorities of one municipality asked whether they could distribute this manual as an appendix to their building permission application forms, explains a smiling Jesse. The stores are planning an impressive promotion campaign to support their 100-page booklet. It is displayed in the brochure rack in all K-rauta and Rautia stores. The Anttila retail chain opened a new department store in Mikkeli and advertised it in the local Etelä-Savo newspaper. A series of full-page advertisements mobilised the residents of the entire subregion. The opening day at the store was so crowded that the flow of customers had to be limited. Altogether 1,255 job applications were also received. The opening week ended well, with total sales exceeding estimates by a stunning 45%. New energy at SMOY! Jukka Illikainen (30) has been appointed AD with effect from 2 January. He previously worked as an AD at advertising agency City- Mainos Oy in Hämeenlinna. Leyla Avsar (26) has been appointed Graphic Designer at SMOY as of 14 January. She previously worked as a Graphic Designer at Advertising Agency PHS in Helsinki. Teemu Latola (33) has been appointed Account Director and Board Member with effect from 18 February. Teemu joined our team at SMOY after working as the Advertising Manager in Kesko Food Ltd s K-Plussa marketing unit. Nina Eklund (22) started as a part-time Marketing Assistant in our in-house Marketing and Customer Relationship team. Kaisaesteri Alatalo (26) ) started as a Graphic Designer at SMOY on 1 April. Kaisaesteri holds a polytechnic degree in Design. For the past few years she has been producing illustrations, photography and graphic design under her own trading name. New duties Tommi Lalu (34) has been appointed AD as of 2 January. He was previously a Graphic Designer in our company. Maria Blomberg (43) ) has been appointed Director, CRM, as of 2 January and will also continue in her position as a Board Member at SMOY. She previously worked as a Project Director in the company. Our aim is to create a highly effective customer strategy that will play a major role in all operations at SMOY.
