Boyd Nowicki Head Coach Eighth Year College Experience: Head Coach, Robert Morris Univeristy (2012-To Present Assistant Coach, Robert Morris Univeristy (2009-2011) Coach Nowicki was born and raised in Mukwonago, WI a small town just south of Milwaukee, WI. Coach Nowicki has a degree in Building Construction and currently works for Crawford Murphy & Tilly as a GIS Analyst. Coach Nowicki has worked for Crawford Murphy & Tilly for 25 years and is what ultimately brought him to the Previous to RMU, Coach Nowicki started coaching in 1998 when his oldest daughter started playing softball for a Recreational League. Coach Nowicki found himself in several coaching positions when his second and third daughters started playing ASA competitive softball teams from the 10u-18u age brackets. In 2009, Coach Nowicki was offered an assistant coaching position for Robert Morris University. Coach Nowicki, excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity, accepted the position. Gina Merano Assistant Coach Sixth Year College Experience: Assistant Coach, Robert Morris University(2011-Present) A 1985 graduate of Kincaid High School, Merano was a three-sport high school student-athlete. She was named All-Conference all four years in softball, basketball, and volleyball. Merano was also the starting shortstop for her competitive fast-pitch softball team that won a 1984 ASA National Championship. She returned to Kincaid in 2005 to help coach the Kincaid Ponies Junior High School Volleyball team, which won an IESA Regional Championship that year. From 2006-2009 Merano was head coach for the Ponies girls basketball team. During those years, she coached her teams to the IESA State Tournament two years in a row, placing 3rd in 2007 and 4th in 2008. Merano was named the 2007-2008 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association District #18 Coach of the Year. Coach Merano has been active in softball as a player and coach for over 37 years and brings a wealth championship. Merano has been coaching girl s summer recreational and competitive select teams for over 10 years. During that time, she helped coach the Her-A-Canes softball team to an ASA Class B State Coach Merano resides in Kincaid, IL with her husband Steve and they have three children, Vincent, Madison and Lauren. Eagles in the Community 2016 Spring eld al to End Al heimer s The Walk to End Alzheimer s is an event to raise support and awareness for Alzheimer s care, research and support. Players and coaches served on the set up crew, worked in the group photo area, served as route guides and as part of the clean up crew. This year s event had record numbers with over 600 participants and 111 teams while raising over $100,000 Media Guide 27
Eagles in the Community Miracle League of Central Illinois as buddies and coaches for the Miracle League of Central Illinois. The Miracle League of Central Illinois provides physically and mentally challenged children a safe and spir- unique and memorable opportunity these children would not otherwise have. The Miracle League is a place where every player has the opportunity to run the bases, score and win at every Miracle League game inning. Earns USCAA Softball Student-Athlete of the Year Akron, Ohio- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association(USCAA) announced its 2016 softball national honors on Sunday, May 15 th at the USCAA Softball National Championship Banquet in Akron, Ohio and Madison Merano of Robert Morris Merano, who carries a 3.7 grade point average, received this award due to her academic Health Science and Business Administration. The junior participated in several local community events and also served as an assistant basketball coach at a local high school, eventually taking over as the head coach. Merano s leadership and work ethic earned her teammates vote as a captain of the 2016 Eagles softball team and earlier in the evening she was also named to the USCAA Media Guide 31
