NATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY SPORTS: 3) SOME KEY INSIGHTS IN TO THE CONTENTS & METHODOLOGICAL CHOICES The Sports House model Operationalized Vision 2020 Regular evaluation 11
THE SPORTS HOUSE -MODEL The model was originally invented by Student Research Foundation (Otus) in 2007 It is based on Balanced Scorecard Methodology (See e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/balanced_scorecard ) Originally, the model didn t include any recommended levels, but it provided recommendations as a useful theoretical framework (The model also has a suitably rousing academic twist for people at Universities ) 12
THE VISION 2020 & IT S OPERATIONALIZATION & REGULAR EVALUATION The Vision for University Sport 2020: University Sport is an established and appreciated part of the studying and working environment in every Finnish University It seems to me that it s not that usual to operationalize a defined vision (i.e. make it practically measurable) Thus, I feel it s also quite rare that the satisfaction / realisation (level) of the vision is regularly evaluated We are at least trying to make it otherwise! 13

NATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY SPORTS: 2) FUTURE PROSPECTS Original recommendations are a little bit old school: the focus is almost solely on traditional sport facilities and issues related to them! In 2017, we ll update the contents of the recommendations Most importantly, we ll add two (2) new components: 1) Guidelines for reducing sitting time at University campuses 2) Guidelines for sportifying University campuses 17
With today s furniture one has to be clever (& daring!) in order to reduce sitting time at Finnish universities 18
a In addition to traditional sport services, there are lots of possibilities to sportify Finnish University campuses 19
