2 Toronto Calling! The 78th Finnish Canadian Festival will be held in a great new location: Tyndale University College and Seminary at 3377 Bayview Avenue in North Toronto. Tyndale was founded in 1894 and many Finns have come through the school. The earliest Finnish graduate was in In the early years classes were held in the evenings so women working as domestics could also attend. Today at the College there are a number of alumni, current students, and staff who are Finnish-Canadian. The fabulous chapel at the College is acoustically perfect for performances at the Festival Concert where, among more local talent, you can listen to the youth choir, Leticia, the Kauhava Big Band, as well as the Swedish-Finnish classical ensemble, Jepokryddona, which all hail from Finland. A variety of activities will be available for your enjoyment, such as art exhibits, lectures, movies, spiritual events and children s programs. Of course, there will be the market place, tori, with vendors selling their art, books, crafts, clothing, jewelry, and plenty more! Exciting children s activities are being planned for Friday and Saturday. A meal is being made available at Agricola Lutheran Church on Friday from 4-7 pm. Several options for food will be available at the Tyndale site on the Saturday. There is a large number of dorm rooms available on site on a first come first serve basis with hotels nearby for those wishing more luxurious accommodations. A Festival Dance will be held at The Thornhill Club on Saturday night, starting right after the Festival Concert. So put on your dancing shoes and come tango, or just listen to great Finnish dance music. All in all it promises to be a very varied and wonderful weekend! Tänä vuonna 78. Kanadan suomalaisten juhlat pidetään uudessa hienossa paikassa: Tyndale University College & Seminary, 3377 Bayview Avenue Pohjois-Torontossa. Collegen upea kappeli on akustiikaltaan ideaalinen juhlakonserttiin. FinnFestival2018 tulee tarjoamaan rattoisan viikonlopun!
